"oh, I just upgraded, I think this is bull**** that I have to pay for another upgrade". No matter what is done, they will always find something else to complain and moan about. But I think that there are just some people you just can't please. It is true that you can't please all the people all of the time. After the MC5 announcement, which showed users that Avid has been listening to us all along, there are still those who moan and complain. Personally, I plan to wait until v5 has had its tires kicked etc, by other more daring users and so, I'll likely be purchasing it towards the end of the year again. I previously had v3.0.5 - which was upgraded from XpressPro. I purchased the upgrade from the on 12/31 and it was shipped to me a few days later.

If you're paying for those updates and making money with them all the while, then the cost of staying current is simply the cost of doing business to stay competitive. Almost EVERY other company rewards loyal users by making the jump to the next sequential upgrade CHEAPER than jumping from an older version of the software, otherwise what's the incentive to upgrade every release?
